The Highway 50 Documentary Project

Four of us, each with divergent photographic styles, decided to collaborately create a documentary about Highway 50. This diverse highway runs east - west through the center part of Florida. Just about every aspect of Florida is represented somewhere along the 110 mile route. There is downtown Orlando, areas of new urban sprawl, classic older rural communities, the St. Johns river flood plain, the Withlacoochee forest, and several pre-Disney tourist attractions. It is two lane, four lane, and six lane in places. The photography began in the fall of 2008 and was completed in the spring of 2009.
